Radio Controlled Airship
Why Fly A Radio Controlled Blimp?
Remote controlled, indoor, helium airships are safe, very easy to fly, fun for all ages, and light enough to cause no harm when bumped into household objects.
How Do Blimps Stay In The Air?
Blimps, also known as zeppelins, rely on lighter-than-air gasses to provide lift. The gas filling the blimp takes up a certain volume, but weighs less than the same volume of air. This makes the blimp buoyant.
Helium, Hydrogen, And Hot Air:
There are a few lighter-than-air gasses that can be used in blimps and airships. Helium is often used because it is easily available and safe. Hydrogen provides slightly more lift, but is not used as frequently due to its flammability. Hot air requires only a portable source of heat, and is used in hot air balloons that are able to carry a heater and fuel.
What Are Blimps Made Of?
Blimps usually consist of a gondola with electronics and fans, suspended from a gas filled envelope. In order to contain a lighter-than-air gas, a non porous material must be used. Mylar, a material also used in spacesuits is a common choice. Mylar is metalized plastic, and can contain helium much longer than rubber or latex.
The 3 volt lithium battery and the 9v battery needed for the blimp and remote control transmitter are included.
Please note that you will need to get the balloon filled with helium from someplace such as your local florist. The RC Airship is approximately 3 feet long and is very easy to use.
